Light Sheet Microscopy

The light sheet microscope
LaVision BioTec’s Ultramicroscope creates a thin light sheet to illuminate biological samples from the side while imaging the excited plane by a microscope perpendicular to the light sheet. Moving the sample through the light sheet generates a 3D image stack. Bleaching and photo-damage are minimized as the imaged field of view corresponds to the excited volume. This overall configuration combines 3D capabilities with fast wide field camera imaging.

  • 3D image acquisition from macro to micro

  • Planar illumination guarantees fast imaging

  • Large working distance up to 5500 μm

  • Variable magnification from 1.26x to 12.6x

  • Decreased bleaching due to selective illumination

  • Flexible laser sources for excitation across the visible spectrum

The Ultramicroscope Setup
The advanced Ultramicroscope configuration delivers superior imaging capabilities and user friendliness. Just choose camera, objective lens and laser light source to adapt the Ultramicroscope to your application.

  • Newest sCMOS technology for high quality images

  • Bidirectional sheet excitation allows a consistent illumination

  • Low magnification lenses for macro imaging

Laser Sources

  • Laser module with up to 5 laser diodes

  • White light super continuum lasers for maximum excitation flexibility
